Denon AVR IP Control

Last Updated: Jul 01, 2014 02:24PM EDT
Most newer Denon AVRs are IP controllable.  The only allow one concurrent connection at a time.  Meaning that only 1 instance of the app can be controlling it at any given time.

In the iRule Builder you will need a device called "Denon AVR All Models RS232/TCP" when searching for Type=Receiver/Preamp + Vendor=Denon

In the iRule App you need to setup NETWORK GATEWAY with port number 23.  IPv4 address will be the IP address of the AVR.  Please note that for a more reliable performance, you will need to make sure that your AVR's IP address is set to static.  This can be done inside the AVR itself or through DCHP reservation inside your router.

Denon by default has power saving mode enabled which turns off power to the Network interface thus will not allow the device to wake up from Standby.  You will need to perform the following step to disable the power saving feature:

<Network Option: Network Standby Mode>
(1)Press MENU button, then Menu appears on FL-display (and GUI) (2)Select “Manual Setup > Network Setup > Other > Network Standby” (3)Set parameters described below to ON.
